Archery

It started with a simple question. How could we engage a lost generation of young people in wildlife conservation and shooting sports? This is how the mission and guiding principles were set for the NASP or National Archery in Schools Program. The Indiana NASP is the governing body who oversee the archery program within many schools across Indiana. Wes-Del Elementary is one of those schools where the Warrior Archery team has been on a consistent trend upwards. The Warrior Archers come of the finest season placing first in the state qualifier, and having two archers qualifying for the Indiana - National Archery in the Schools Program State Archery Tournament. Haddie DuBois and Kinsey Willis both placed first and second respectively in the state qualifier puching their tickets to the state archery tournament. The state tournament is the culminating event for students in grades four through twelve. Haddie and Kinsey represented Wes-Del Elementary at the state tournament and they did so with great success. Kinsey finished with the ranking of 57 out of 146 in 5th grade and 65 out of 237 in all of the elementary competitiors. Haddie finished with the ranking of 87 out of 146 in 5th grade and 102 out of 237 in all of the elementary competitiors. Wes-Del is one of over 150 schools participating in the Indiana -National Archery in Schools Program. Our program is led by Mrs. Puckett, Mr. Lamb, and Mr. Carmin who spend countless hours coaching, mentoring, and practicing with our young Warrior archers. Archery is another BIG opportunity for our Warrior students and one which they are excelling. It is clear the mission of the NASP is a bullseye at Wes-Del Community Schools.
